Grant Thornton LLP, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd., recently announced revenues of $1.8 billion for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2018. The figure represents a year-over-year increase of 3.4 percent.
“We set new highs for our key financial and business results and followed through on our commitment to invest aggressively in the future of our firm,” said Mike McGuire, chief executive officer of Grant Thornton LLP. “We’ve built a strong foundation for consistently delivering value to our clients and growing the business, and remain focused on staying ahead of rapid market changes.”
In addition to record revenues, Grant Thornton made several notable investments during the fiscal year. The firm appointed a number of key hires, including Diane Swonk as chief economist, Brenda Wagner as chief people and culture officer, and JT Kostman as managing director of applied artificial intelligence. Grant Thornton also named Kevin Baril as national managing principal of Innovation. The firm furthered its ‘Status Go’ brand positioning—challenging the status quo in a forward-thinking, modern, and difference-making way—through sponsorships of the PGA TOUR, THE PLAYERS® Championship, and professional golfer Rickie Fowler.
Grant Thornton’s quality results continue to improve, and the firm again received awards recognizing its culture as a differentiator. Grant Thornton was among Working Mother Magazine’s “Top 100 Companies” and a National Association for Female Executives’ “Top Company for Executive Women.” Crain’s Chicago Business and the Dallas Business Journal named Grant Thornton to their “Best Places to Work” lists. The firm again earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “Corporate Equality Index.” In addition, Grant Thornton ranked fourth in the “Vault Accounting 50” and accelerated from 91st to 55th in Universum’s “Most Attractive Employers” ranking.
McGuire was elected chief executive officer by the partners of Grant Thornton LLP in June 2014. He has been with the firm since 2002.
